For a while I was looking for a sewing table because I was
getting annoyed having to lug my sewing machine
on/off the computer table.
The, a few months ago DH bought me a
1940s Kenmore Sewing
Machine and Table for $50...SCORE!
I loved it.
However, I felt like it needed a bright makeover.
The first color that came to mind...mustard yellow!

| (please ignore the mess. this is the only messy room allowedin the house...hahaha) |
This was DH's and mine first DYI project
(I think DH was mostly excited about using his tools more than anything).
DH did most of the work while I did most of the painting.
The project was easy.
This is what we did, to sum it up:
sand, dust, paint, dry, re-paint, dry, paint again, dry, seal it and dry.
I wanted to distress it, however I was a bit scared as to how to go
on exactly about it. Next time!
I would suggest for anyone wanted to re-paint a piece of furniture is to just go for it.
Just remember: sand the furniture before painting it and seal the paint at the end.

It's super cute!!!! Nice work!
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteVery nice! How well does the older machine work? Did you need to get it fixed up at a shop or anything before starting to use it?
ReplyDeletethe lady who sold it to use said it does work. however, i'm too scared to plug it in. i'm waiting on DH to check it out and see if it works. it also came with a lot of attachments!
DeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! My grandmother has one very similar to this, and I've hinted for years that I want it 'some day'. When I get it [hopefully] I would love to redo the table. This is inspiring!
